Liatris were just made for a more natural looking garden, with their strappy, grass like leaves creating a great contrast to other perennials in the border. They flower from the top down, which is most unusual, but the wildlife don’t mind, in fact, they absolutely love it, both bees and butterflies, which is great for us here at a buzz and a flutter and you too! ‘Floristan White’ is as the name suggests a white colour, but the purple version ‘Floristan Violet’ is an excellent partner, whether you choose to mingle in a dotted scheme, or in big, bold drifts of plants in separate blocks, they’ll look great and draw the eye down a border, or act as what designers call ‘exclamation marks’ where the eye that follows the horizontal is stopped at a vertical, creating interest and stimulating the mind. The white version, it has to be said, looks very attractive next to Agastache, though the truth is, this is a hard working plant, providing many interesting features and there are so many plants that these look good with, whilst they’re very easy to accommodate in the garden, so there really isn’t any reason to be without them.
