Ooh, what a star! You might despair at the thought of having a garden star, acting like the celebrity/footballer divas of today, but you’d be mistaken, this is such an easy and rewarding plant. It has to be said, that when planted in numbers, with its lovely tall, wiry, yet surprisingly sturdy and upright stems, flushed with 3 deep reddish/purple flower heads, this plant is an absolute stunner. and the bees can’t get enough of it. Try this with grasses, or other thistle like plants, such as Echinops and Eryngiums and you won’t go far wrong; it’s just too good looking to look bad anywhere! Oh, and it’s seed heads are food for the birds, what more could you want?
